In a man-animal conflict, a middle-aged woman sustained injuries when a crocodile pounced on her leg while she was catching fish at a nullah connected to the river Govari near Chandiapali on Sunday.
The injured woman is Sanjukta Sethy (40), wife of Harish Sethy of Chandiapali village under Mahakalapada Forest Range, informed Mahakalapada Forest Range Ranger Bijay Parida. She was rushed to the Mahakalapada CHC.
As the nesting season of estuarine crocodiles is going on, the reptiles become violent by the intrusion of human beings into their habitats. During this time, most of the human-animal conflicts occur, stated Parida.
