Police arrested a woman along with her brother-in-law on the charge of killing her husband in a fight over a trivial matter in Udala of Mayurbhanj district.
The deceased was identified as Raisen Murmu and his wife as Pana.
As per reports, locals were observing some Puja in the village on Monday night. Amid the festivities, Raisen got late in getting chicken for the rituals. When he turned up, his brother Chandramohan got into an argument with him over the delay.
When Pana intervened, she took Chandramohan’s side instead of her husband. As the spat turned uglier, Pana in a fit of rage took a wooden plank and thrashed Raisen to death.
Sources said Pana was having an affair with Chandramohan and, hence, supported him in the fight.
Police on getting information reached the spot and arrested the two accused. The body was sent for postmortem and a case was registered.
