In a tragic incident, a 56-year-old woman and her granddaughter died and two others were injured when an SUV in which they were travelling rammed into a roadside tree near Chancher under the Kesinga police limits in Kalahandi district late on Sunday night.
The deceased were identified as Basanti Suna and her granddaughter Prabhasini Suna (10).
According to reports, the accident took place when Balaram Suna, his wife, mother Basanti and daughter Prabhasini were returning to Kesinga from Bhawanipatna by an Innova SUV after attending a marriage ceremony.
The ill-fated vehicle dashed against the tree killing Basanti and Prabhasini and injuring Balaram Suna and his wife. The injured were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital at Bhawanipatna.
