A young woman job aspirant was allegedly gang-raped by two employees of the Health Department on Sunday night in the Heads of Departments building here. However, no FIR has been lodged in this connection yet by the victim.
Reports said the woman from Sambalpur district was lured on the promise of providing employment. When she came, the accused duo took her to a room and raped her at night. The woman later managed to flee and informed the security guard, who refused to help her. She then informed about her ordeal to a few other employees working at the Heads of Departments building.
After getting information, the department’s higher-ups informed the Commissionerate police. The cops reached the spot and picked up the accused clerk and driver on Monday morning for questioning. The duo was even then in inebriated conditions. However, they were released after sometime as the woman did not want to lodge an FIR.
Meanwhile, taking the matter seriously, the Health Department authorities have placed the clerk under suspension and recommended action against the driver.
Commissioner of Police SaumendraPriyadarshi said no written complaint was lodged by the rape victim.
