Mystery shrouded the recovery of a body of a woman from a pond at Talakani village under the Ranpur police station in the district on Wednesday.
Family members of the deceased, identified as Prabhashini Behera, alleged that she was murdered and her body was dumped in the pond.
Behera had gone to the pond early in the morning for taking bath. Concerned over her delay in returning home, her family members frantically searched for her and found the body floating in the pond.
Her husband has lodged a complaint with the Ranpur police alleging that his wife was killed. On the other hand, the body bore some injury marks which have raised suspicions over the death. Police have started investigation into the incident.
Notably, the woman had a dispute with some villagers and a case in the connection is sub-judice.
