The Rajkanika police on Sunday arrested the father-in-law and husband of a woman from the SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack for allegedly forcing the woman to consume poison as she did not deliver a male child.
Kendrapada SP Rabi Narayan Behera said a police team had been sent to the hospital where Pramila Rout, mother of two girls, is undergoing treatment. The police nabbed her husband Ajay Mohanty and father-in-law Narayan Mohanty of Jorala village for forcing her to consume poison on December 22. The arrested duo would be produced before court on Monday, the SP said.
