Vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested Inspector of Physical Education, Puri DEO office Soudamini Das for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs500 from Nihar Ranjan Palai, PET of the Ramahari Vidyapitha, Damodarpur to issue a cheque towards students’ TA bill. In his complaint, Palai had alleged he had deposited a travelling allowance bill of Rs1,084 at the DEO office for payment towards his students’ visit to the State-level kabadi competition held at Jagatsinghpur. After several requests, Das passed Rs876 and demanded Rs500 as bribe for issue of the cheque. Accordingly, the sleuths laid a trap and caught Das red-handed while taking bribe from the complainant. The investigation was still in progress, informed an official release.
