A grim picture came from Haliso village under Simulia police station after a woman died after receiving information of the death of her husband. Sources said that Parsuram Biswal (26) was suffering from an acute financial crisis and his wife was seven months’ pregnant.
It is alleged by the villagers that while he went to withdraw his savings including KALIA assistance money from his account in a commercial bank at Aada, the bank manager allegedly refused to give money stating that his money was adjusted due to default in loan repayment. He had around Rs 17,000 in his savings account. Despite repeated requests while he couldn’t get the money, he on Monday consumed poison in order to end life unable to bear the financial distress. While he was shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital from Baleswar in a critical state, he succumbed on Wednesday. After news was received by his wife Kabita (23), she suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed, said local sources.
