Police here have begun investigations into alleged botched-up family planning (FP) operations separately by two doctors of Jajpur and Cuttack, for which a woman of Bari of Jajpur district died here on Tuesday morning.
“One Basant Mallick of Bari has lodged a written complaint alleging that his wife Sabitri died due to faulty
family planning operations by Dr HS Rout of Bari PHC and subsequently another operation by Dr Tushar Mishra of Cuttack-based Debi Nursing Home,” informed Cuttack Malgodown police station IIC DP Patra.
According to the FIR, Sabitri was first operated upon by Dr Rout at Bari on December 30; and when her condition deteriorated, she was referred to the private hospital in Cuttack, where
Dr Mishra conducted a second surgery on January 5. Alleging that both the operations were botched up, Basant and his family members are now blaming the doctors for the death of Sabitri.
“Registering a case, we have examined both the doctors and are now waiting for the postmortem report to ascertain the cause of the death,” the police inspector said.
