A woman and her newborn baby boy were allegedly abandoned by her husband and in-laws at the District Headquarters Hospital in Jajpur district on Thursday.
The incident occurred after the woman gave birth to the baby. The woman was identified as Dali Mallick of Ghatakula village of Madusudanpur gram panchayat under the Binjharpur police station in the district.
The woman had got married to Chandan Mallick of Nagamatha village under Aul block in Kendrapada district in 2021.
Dali had been admitted to the hospital on January 1. However, Chandan and his family members allegedly left leaving Dali and the newborn at the hospital due to some family dispute.
After the woman narrated her plight to others, information was given to police about the shocking incident. The woman and the baby were handed over to a one-stop centre following the intervention of police.
