In a tragic incident on Friday at Chhendipada of Angul district, a woman and her six-month-old daughter died after consuming poison.
Sources said that the 25-year-old woman Sumati of village Purunagarh had married Manas Ranjan Majhi of Kaitha Sahi of Chhendipada two years ago.
However, the family members of Sumati alleged that it was a simple case of dowry torture. Her in-laws have been torturing her since their marriage. Even on Thursday, they had severely beaten her. Sumati’s husband, in-laws and sister-in law are actively involved in the case, they alleged. Being informed, the Chhendipada police rushed to the spot and are questioning the family members to ascertain the truth.
