A woman and her daughter were killed and four others of the family critically injured when a Travera car in which they were travelling fell off the Birtola bridge near Bonai under the lahunipada police limits in Sundargarh district on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as Richi Sahoo and her daughter Charati Das. The injured, including the husband of Sahoo, were admitted to the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH).
The accident took place when they, all hailing from Timber Colony in Rourkela, were on their way to the steel city from Brahmapur. The driver of the ill-fated vehicle lost control over the wheels. The mother-daughter duo died on the spot.
The injured were initially admitted to the lahunipada hospital and later shifted to the RGH as their condition deteriorated. later, one of them was shifted to the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) as his condition turned critical.
