A woman in Malkangiri district is making headlines for what she claims a homemade remedy for kidney ailments. Scores of kidney patients have been thronging her MV 104 village for cure. Tarulata Sarkar has been preparing medicine from burnt lemon laced with jaggery. She extends her service free of cost. Several people claim that they have benefitted by her treatment.
Tarulata’s father is stated to have been cured of kidney disease with the medicine. She says she was directed by Goddess Kali in dreams to administer the drug to him.
“Doctors had told me that my father won’t survive beyond a week. I cried before Goddess Kali. She showed me the way. Since my father got benefitted, I am practising the treatment,” Tarulata is quoted as saying.
Medical practitioners, who advise dialysis for kidney treatment, however, are not convinced with the homemade formulation curing such critical diseases.
