A 32-year-old married woman was beaten in Khatiabhanguni village under lahunipada police station after one of her fellow villager accused her being a witch.According to sources, the victim Sulochana was being attacked and had beaten by her neighbourer Ramesh Chandra Mohanta, in the village road on September 20.
Following the incident, though the victim along with her husband had gone to lahunipada police station to lodge FIR, the police refused to register the case.Meanwhile, after the intervention of the Rourkela Additional Superintendent of Police the lahunipada Police on Wednesday night registered the case and started investigation.
“We have registered the case and started investigation into the complaint. Strict legal action will be taken accordingly,” said lahunipada police station IIC RK Sahu.
