A woman sustained critical burn injuries when she attempted self-immolation over a dispute with her husband at Sanakrushnapaur village in the Kasia area of Bhadrak district on Wednesday.
According to reports, Fakurani Jena had a verbal duel with her husband Gopal Jena in the morning over a family dispute. Later, she poured kerosene on her body and set herself ablaze.
Gopal, who tried to save his wife, was also injured during the process. The woman sustained 90 percent burn injuries.
The couple duo was initially admitted to the Basudevpur hospital and later shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack. The condition of the woman was stated to be critical.
