The Ganjam district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday demanded action against BJD leader and Dura Panchayat Sarpanch laxminarayan Patra for attacking and assaulting ex-Sarpanch of Dura panchayat Mamatamayee Rana on October 10 afternoon.
The BJP leaders said that Rana fell unconscious after the attack. She was humiliated by Patra in front of public, they alleged.Though Rana had lodged an FIR at the Gopalpur police station, the BJP leaders said, the police didn’t take action against the Sarpanch. Surprisingly, the police instead of arresting Patra, lodged a case against Rana under political pressure, they added.In the morning, the party workers led by BJP’s Ganjam district president Bijay Kumar Swain handed over a memorandum to the Brahmapur SP demanding action against the Sarpanch.
