A woman and her minor daughter were killed in a fire mishap at Dhanura Belari village under the Balikuda police limits in Jagatsinghpur district late on Saturday night.
Sources said while the woman and her four-year-old daughter were sleeping, their house caught fire. When the two woke up, fire had already engulfed the house. later, the two were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in critical condition. While the woman succumbed to her burn injuries, the minor was referred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. later, she died as her condition deteriorated with nearly 85 percent burn injuries.
The deceased were identified as Sandhyarani Sethi and her daughter Priya. The reason behind the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained.
