Woman alleges misbehaviour in Jagannath Temple

Chaos prevailed in the Jagannath Temple here on Tuesday after a woman devotee complained of misbehaviour by a policeman during her darshan of the deities.

The devotee lodged a complaint with the Shree Mandir office for the alleged police misbehaviour during Mangala Aarati darshan in the wee hours of the day.

However, temple police personnel denied the allegation and launched a counterattack on the complainant. Temple police official Santosh Das alleged that some woman misbehaved with him while they were trying to enter into the temple from the south gate. When police prevented the women entering the temple without ticket, the latter misbehaved with him, he said.

As per temple rules, no devotee can enter the temple through the Beheran Dwar (south gate facing the Muktimandap) without a valid ticket.
