Bodies of a woman and her son were found in a well at Godipada village under the Jankia police limits in Khordha district on late Wednesday evening.
The deceased were identified as Varsha Srichandan and her seven-year-old son Lucky.
Locals spotted the bodies floating in the well and informed police.
Later, Fire Service personnel reached the spot and recovered the bodies.
The woman’s husband Manoj Srichandan allegedly used to abuse her after consuming liquor.
It was suspected that Manoj might have killed the mother-son duo and thrown the bodies into the well, villagers said.
Till last reports came in, Manoj was absconding. Police sent the bodies to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem and started an investigation into the incident.
