An elderly woman and her son were allegedly burnt to death as some looters torched the house in which they were sleeping at Kaligaon village under the Nandipada police station in Keonjhar district late on Wednesday night.
The deceased were identified as Janjali Jena and her son Banamali Jena. According to reports, the two were staying at an abandoned Anganwadi centre in the village.
Some unidentified miscreants, after looting a shop in the locality, set the house on fire after locking the door from outside. The looters set house ablaze as the mother-son duo had witnessed the loot. Both were charred alive and died onspot.On being informed by locals, police reachedspot in morning and started an investigation into incident.
