A woman was allegedly shot dead by an unidentified miscreant near her house at Rohidaspada under the Sarasmal police station of the district late on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Kanaklata Rohidas (36), wife of Sadanand Rohidas of Rohisdaspada. She is survived by his husband and two sons.
The accused opened fire at the woman near his house around 2.30 am, killing her on the spot.
Sadanand said the all the family members were sleeping in the house. But around 2 pm he went outside to attend nature’s call. He found Kanaklata lying in a pool of blood. .
The reason behind the firing is yet to be ascertained.
On being informed by her family members, police reached the spot with a forensic team and started investigation. Police have launched a hunt to trace and nab the accused.
