A married woman in Baleswar district and her brother-in-law, with whom she allegedly had an extramarital affair, ended their lives during a video call late on Sunday night.Varsha Singh (26), wife of Manas Kumar Singh (29), was residing at her in-laws’ house at Mulida Bazaar under the Basta police limits while her husband was working with a private company in Pune.
The woman developed a love affair with Rakesh (26), cousin of her husband. As the family members came to know about this, they sent Rakesh to Pune for working in a company. However, Varsha and Rakesh were reportedly in touch through telecommunication. The situation turned tragic as the two made a video call to each other and took the extreme step of hanging themselves while being over the video call.
Though the family members rescued the woman and rushed her to a hospital, doctor declared her dead. Police have registered an unnatural death case into the incident.
