Tragedy struck a family of Soro in Baleswar district when a woman and her three-year-old son were killed while her nephew suffered grievous injuries in a road mishap on NH-16 near Sheragada under the Khantapada police station in the district at around 9 am on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Sukanti Senapati and her son Rohit.As per reports, Sukanti, a resident of Manipur in Soro, was taking her son to the District Headquarters Hospital here in a scooter for his health checkup when an unidentified vehicle hit the two-wheeler and moved away from the spot.
While the woman died on the spot, her son and nephew were rushed to hospital in critical conditions.
However, Rohit was declared dead at the hospital.Later, police reached the accident spot and initiated an inquiry into the incident.
