A woman was found dead with her throat slit in Gunduripada village in the district on Monday. She was identified as Rita Dalei.
It was suspected that the 27-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband’s family over dowry issue.
Rita’s husband Digambar Dalai is employed in Gujarat and stays away from home most of the time.
Rita, alleging constant harassment by her sister-in-law and mother-in-law left her in-law’s house and was living with her family for some time.
But after a meeting in the village, Rita returned to the house of her in-laws.
Rita’s father has alleged that her mother-in-law and sister-in-law slit Rita’s throat, with the help of another relative over dowry demands.
A case has been registered with the Binjharpur police and the cops have launched a probe into the matter.
The accused are on the run, which has fuelled suspicions of their involvement in the crime.
