A half-charred body of an unidentified woman was found lying in a garden at Saranai on National Highway-6 in the district on Saturday.
Some locals spotted the body in the morning and alerted the police about it. Police rushed to the spot and seized the body.
Prima facie, it appeared that the woman was murdered by some miscreants and later set on fire by burning tyres. The body was sent to a local hospital for postmortem, the police said.
The identity of the deceased woman was not known immediately as the upper part of the body was completely burnt, police said, adding that a probe ws on into the incident.
