Withdraw cases against hubby, son: Dandapani wife to Guv

Geetanjali Mohanty, wife of Maoist interlocutor Dandapani Mohanty, who was arrested by Gajapati police with the help of Brahmapur police on February 8 last, urged Governor SC Jamir to pass necessary order for withdrawal of false and fabricated cases against her husband and son Sangram. Sangram was arrested on December 5 last year for allegedly helping Maoists.

She reiterated that her husband had been arrested on false ground and as many as 19 criminal cases had been registered against him within the jurisdiction of the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), R Udayagiri, in Gajapati district. She said that her husband was raising voice against the exploitation of the tribals and was supporting the cause of the Narayanpatna tribal movement. She said, “I strongly believe that my husband was doing helping the poor and innocent tribals within the framework of the Constitution.”

She alleged that the police investigating cases against her husband, instead of acting in a free, fair and unbiased manner, were acting as a weapon of the State Government to silent the opposition by creating false and fabricated cases in a phased manner only to keep her husband and son inside the jail.

She further said that her husband and son had decided to protest the unconstitutional and illegal act of the State Government in Gandhian way by starting a hunger strike from August 15 inside the jail.
