Maintaining that he never tolerates dishonour, senior Congress leader and Opposition Chief Whip in the Assembly Tara Prasad Bahinipati on Tuesday said he would step down from his post if MlAs want.
Such a statement from Bahinipati came when the 12 Delhi toured MlAs are all set to meet PCC president Prasad Harichandan and leader of Opposition in the Assembly Narasingha Mishra on Thursday (July 30) to sort the issues reportedly against Bahinipati following the direction of the party high command.
“If the MlAs do not want me as Opposition Chief Whip and discuss the issue in July 30 meeting, then I will resign from the post from my side. I never tolerate dishonour,” Bahinipati told reporters.
He maintained that some of the MlAs of the 12-member delegation which had visited New Delhi to meet party high commands last week got astonished listening others speaking against me before the high commands.
The Jeypore MlA, however, did not divulge details.
