Will police file some evidence this time?

The much-publicised Madhupatna bombing case of Cuttack is going to be heard on Monday. Till now, the case is wide open.

The fresh turn has taken on the eve of the New Year when a notorious Ganesh Sahoo named Cuttack’s noted businessman and accused him in the case of Abhay Bhat.

This three-year-old case, which has been reopened by the police against Mahimananda Mishra, looks to be an ultimate example that showcases the injudicious modus operandi of certain forces and individuals. Targeted efforts are being engineered to exploit this opportunity to nail cases and fix witnesses against Mishra, feel many.

In case of attempt to murder cases it is mandatory by the law to get the medical check-up done of the victim to quantify and qualify the injury, but police have not submitted the report so far in the case. Due to absence of the victim’s ‘Injury Report’ the court has deferred the hearing process and has asked the Government Counsel to make it available.

There seems to be lot of loopholes in the case which qualifies this case to be a fix case. According to analysts, while the injury report is mandatory, why there is no injury report of Abhay Bhatta so far, despite all this time and the victim has never said anything against Mishra in the earlier proceedings.

The police are trying to stir up cases in a frenzy to build pressure on the businessman and foisted Ganesh Sahoo as an accused after arresting him on January 5 this year, who has been taken into custody 4-5 times over the last six years, to drag Mishra into this case in order to delay and extend legal proceedings.
