Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram on Sunday said he would take lead of tribals’ fight for justice even though he is a Minister.
“We will fight for the right of the tribals. It will begin in a peaceful manner and if then we do not get our rights, we will follow the other path,” said Oram while interacting with displaced persons at Hemgiri in an open session.
He informed that he has filed a PIl in the Supreme Court through BJP leader and senior lawyer Ashok Sahoo seeking adequate compensation for displaced people.
He said despite being in the Government he would come down to street whenever it is required to fight for the people.
To a proposal of establishment of mining training school, Oram agreed and assured to take initiative on it.
At the outset, 26 displaced villagers of Hemgiri and Gopalpur narrated their plights after the MCl denied benefits to them. They also apprehended that more families would be displaced by the CPSU for expansion of coal mining.
To this, the Minister said he is in favour of industrialisation but prior to that the shelter and livelihood of the people must be taken care of.
