After injuring six persons over last two days, including three on Monday wee hours at Hatisala the city, a wild boar that was running amok was rescued by forest officials.
A team of wildlife officials nabbed the boar from a drain and sent it in a cage to be released in the Balukhanda Wildlife Sanctuary.
The boar is now under treatment as it has sustained injuries during man-animal confrontations in last two days.
The boar is believed to have entered the city through beach from Brahmagiri. It is also suspected that another boar is still hiding in the city.
Sources said that a week ago a herd had entered the city passing over the sea mouth near Sterling Resort. The boar after being detached from its herd aimlessly was roaming in beach without getting a return route.
It is the first instance of man-animal confrontation in Puri.
