Bapi Sarkhel’s wife Monideepa Sarkhel has consented to lead the former’s trade unions functioning in Paradip.
After Bapi was sent to the Alipingala Sub-Jail in connection with Seaways Company general manager’s murder case, his supporters were virtually feeling discouraged. Monideepa, however, met all trade union leaders who back Bapi at Paradip and held marathon discussion with them on Wednesday.
The leaders endorsed her to lead all trade unions earlier led by her husband. Monideepa described that her husband was fighting for causes of workers, employees and labourers working in Paradip. She said she formed many trade unions to protect interest of the downtrodden.
However, she said she would lead all the trade unions in Bapi’s absence.
