ADJ Nimapara Pradeep Patnaik sentenced one Maheswar Malik to life imprisonment after convicting him in murder of his wife.
Maheswar, a resident of Bhainchigoradi village of Tulasipir panchayat under Nimapara police limits, had married Mamata, daughter of Akrurmalik of Karanga village of Niali in 2011. A few years later, the in-laws’ family had tortured Mamta for more dowry. In 2016 Maheswar had beaten Mamta to death and to destroy the evidence, he had burnt the whole house with dead Mamta. Akrur , father of Mamta, had lodged a FIR in Nimapara police station.
