As part of an ambitious project towards the Digital India initiative by the Indian Railways, free Wi-Fi services would be provided at the Cuttack railway station from the Durga Puja.

Designed to offer users the best internet experience, Rail Wire Wi-Fi would be available to any user who has a working mobile connection on a smart phone or on any laptop device.

ECoR General Manager Umesh Singh on his visit to the railway station on Thursday announced that the Wi-Fi service would be enabled at the station any time close to Durga Puja.

The construction work for provision of lift at Platforms-1 and 2 would be completed very soon which would help senior and Divyang passengers. Similarly, the escalators would be provided at the station shortly, informed Singh.

In order to spread wider awareness on cleanliness in rail premises and make hygiene a habit amongst the travelling public, a special cleanliness drive led personally by Singh was conducted at the Cuttack railway station on Thursday.

Singh actively participated in the campaign under the Swachh Rail-Swachh Bharat Mission with senior officials, staff, trade union members and volunteers of Bharat Scouts and Guides.

During his visit to Cuttack Railway Station, various initiatives and activities of cleanliness were inspected. A Nukkad Natak was organised to mark the occasion.

Singh also had a direct interaction with some passengers and took feedback to improve the cleanliness at the station.
