Why you both met: BJP asks CM, CBI chief

The BJP on Tuesday demanded that both Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and CBI Director Ranjit Sihna explain the purpose behind their Monday meeting in the interest of the public.

“The CBI Director was here for four days. He stayed in the Raj Bhavan and met the Chief Minister at the State Secretariat on Monday. If he had come on a personal work, why he stayed in the Raj Bhavan and met Chief Minister at his official chamber. This has raised doubts in public mind which both of them must clarify,” party spokesperson

Suresh Pujari demanded in a Press release.

Stating that a CBI Director had never earlier been seen visiting a Chief Minister in this manner, Pujari said, “The meeting between the two has created suspicions as it came at a time when the CBI is investigating the multi-crore coal scam in which both the State and Central Governments are allegedly involved. Besides, the demands for CBI investigations into a host of scams are under courts’ consideration now.”

Pujari also alleged that the meeting between the two indicates that secret deals are being worked out between the Central and State Governments when the Shah Commission has recommended for a CBI investigation into the mining scams in the State.
