'Why use UPA certificates for your success story?'

Terming BJD president Naveen Patnaik’s last four years in office as Chief Minister as “years of opportunities,” BJP State president KV Singh Deo on Tuesday ridiculed Patnaik for using awards and accolades of the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre as certificates of his Government’s success.

Singh Deo said, “An advertisement was released by the State Government on the occasion of completion of the fourth year in office as Chief Minister in the third consecutive term. In this release, awards given by Congress-led UPA Government were listed as major milestones of its success.” Singh Deo alleged that the Chief Minister has failed to keep his promises made while going to polls in 2009.

Reminding Patnaik of his dreamy slogan of making Odisha the number 1 State in the ladder of development, Singh Deo urged him to compare Odisha with other States. He drew Patnaik’s attention to the development works by BJP Chief Ministers like Narendra Modi in Gujarat, Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Madhya Pradesh and Dr Raman Singh in Chhattisgarh and urged him to follow their footsteps instead of using Congress-led UPA certificates of his success story.

Raising the issue of the arrest of Odisha Jan Morcha secretary general Jangeswar Babu, Singh Deo asked the Chief Minister to explain why he is selective in punishing someone. Singh Deo also urged the Chief Minister to come up with the names of his Ministers and party office-bearers who are benefitted in the chit fund frauds.
