The suspension of BJD Cuttack district president Madhusudan Sahu is only a tip of the iceberg as the relief loot is rampant in the State in all the cyclone-hit affected areas.
This was stated by BJP State spokesperson Sajjan Sharma here on Monday. The lofty claims of transparency of the Naveen Patnaik Government are now in the public domain as Sahu’s suspension not only proved that the BJD is involved in the relief loots but the Chief Minister is also shielding the accused without invoking the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against him and arresting him, Sharma said.
He said BJP teams have visited the calamity-hit areas and found mismanagement and loot by none other than the ruling party itself. The loot in the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) came to fore as the people of Cuttack are a bit more informed.
If Naveen Patnaik really felt that Madhusudan Sahu and the CMC Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner are guilty and for that they were suspended and transferred then why he left the Cuttack Mayor and other corporators of his party who are also involved in the loot, Sharma asked and demanded removal and arrest of the Mayor and the concerned corporators.
If the BJD is not ashamed of gulping even the relief items what would be the fate of the Central assistance promised by the Union Home Secretary, asked Sharma.
