The normal life was affected following the Bharat Bandh observed by Congress on Monday here against rise in fuel prices. Shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed. Buses were off the roads. Banks and post offices were also closed.

According to reports, Congress activists led by DCC president Dilip Behera, Samarendra Mishra and others held a railroko at the Balangir Railway Station for a brief time early in the morning.

“Today all the frontal organisations of Congress at Balangir have participated in the bandh. People have supported us wholeheartedly as a mark of protest against rise in prices of petrol and diesel. We demand fuel prices be brought under GST purview and slashed,” said DCC president Dilip Behera.
