On October 15, the White Cane Day was observed here by the Pingalakhi Public Welfare Organisation (PPWO) in collaboration with the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities department. An awareness rally was held by 160 blind persons along with PPWO special school students about the use of white cane by blind persons. On the occasion, 160 white canes were distributed to the visually-disabled persons. PPWO head Rajkishore Sabut, SSEPD Joint Secretary Kailash Sahu, white cane mobility trainer Ganeswar Satpathy, Nimapara NAC Executive Officer Ajay Kumar Mohanty, PPWO Principal Gaganbihari Das, advocate Mrutyunjay Dash, Dillip Pattnaik and Padmalochan Mohanty were present. Basudeb Das, Gajendra Pradhan,Tezraj Seth, Jiban Behera, Subhasmita, Lelina, Diptimayee, Niharika Nibedita and Suchismita coordinated the programme.
