The BJP on Saturday asked the BJD to announce a timeline publicly as to when it would fulfil the dreams of former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik, who had conceived of giving Constitutional rights to gram panchayats, Odia youths competing in international levels and establishment of adequate schools with adequate numbers of teachers.
“The BJD is claiming to have inherited Biju Patnaik. But it has failed to fulfil all his dreams. When will Naveen Patnaik accord Constitutional rights to panchayats, built adequate schools and provide roofs to people,” BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma wanted to know in a statement. Stating that teachers have been staging agitations for a year, he wanted to know from the Government that when they will return to schools and start teaching.
He demanded that the Government provide autonomy of governance to gram panchayats on the Panchayati Raj Divas and Bijubabu birth centenary celebration.
