The Central Action Committee (CAC), the body of lawyers of different parts of west Odisha spearheading an agitation for establishment of a Bench of the Orissa High Court, has decided to continue the stir till fulfilment of the demand.
The CAC has also decided to boycott the ensuing Republic Day programme of the Government and organise a parallel function on the day. CAC convenor Ashok Das said a separate flag-hoisting function would be held at the venue of the lawyers’ dharna and hunger strike on the day.
The lawyers’ agitation reached 138th day on Saturday, Das said both Central and State Governments are not keen to solve the issue and simply exchanging letters between them to befool people of this region. If the State Government is interested to resolve the issue, it should make a budget provision in the ensuing Assembly session.
Instead of writing letters to Union Government, the State Government
should put forth its strong demand at the Delhi level by sending a delegation of experts, he added.
The CAC also threatened to disconnect water supply at the distribution points near the Hirakud reservoir to the industries in Sambalpur and Jharsuguda districts.
