The Orissa High Court on Tuesday granted an interim protection to web portal chief Ravi Sharma asking the police not to arrest him until further orders in connection with the FIRs filed by four BJD MlAs, who were exposed of their alleged corrupt practices in a sting operation carried out by Sharma.
Adjudicating over the anticipatory bail application of Sharma, Justice SK Mishra sought the case diary (CD) from the Kharavel Nagar police station in Bhubaneswar and restrained the police from arresting the petitioner (Sharma), who had also been summoned by the anti-corruption wing of the State police, until further orders.
Following the footages of the sting operation were aired by a local TV channel, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered the Vigilance Directorate to investigate into the whole incident.
While the vigilance sleuths have already questioned the four BJD MlAs and issued summons to Sharma to appear, the MlAs had filed an FIR against Sharma.
