The Commissionerate police on Friday detained the editor of a web-channel, Sudhansu Sekhar Rout, following ace sprinter Dutee Chand’s case against him and one Pradip Pradhan for allegedly causing her stress during her participation at the recent Tokyo Olympics.
Chand lodged her FIR against the duo at the Mahila police station here alleging harassment by them by publishing news stories about her character and the performance at the games.
Chand also moved the civil court here demanding a compensation of Rs 5 crore from the journalist for defaming her and subsequently causing her to lose advertisement contracts with several corporate houses.
Chand alleged that the stories published by the duo proved traumatic for her which affected her performance at the Olympics.
Notably, the sprinter had failed to qualify for the semifinals in the women's 200m event in Tokyo Olympics on August 2.
