Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday said the State Government and the World Bank (WB) can work together in areas like irrigation, green energy sources like solar power and drought mitigation programmes.
Patnaik while meeting the WB Executive Directors said, “The State Government lays emphasis on development of irrigation potentials through mega lift irrigation projects in upland areas without involving any rehabilitation and resettlement issues while increasing the efficiency of the water used for irrigation. Tapping green energy sources like solar power, drought mitigation through creation of in-stream storage structures for irrigation and drinking water are also high priority items in our agenda for development.
These are some of the possible areas on which we can work together.”
During its two-day tour, the nine-member delegation visited Khordha and Ganjam districts and took stock of disaster mitigation and post-disaster recovery work under the National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project Phase-1 and the Odisha Disaster Recovery Project.
The team also met Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials on the street lighting project.
