Heavy rainfall in the wee hours on Thursday left many low-lying areas of Brahmapur city waterlogged exposing the lack of preparedness of the Berhmapur Municipal Corporation (BeMC).
Torrential rain in the morning threw life out of gear in the city with rainwater gushing into houses in many areas including Gajapatinagar, Tulasinagar, Brajanagar, Subuddhipeta Sahi and Laxminrushinha Sahi.
Water was flowing above the main road near De Paul School here bringing communication to a standstill.
BeMC Commissioner Chakravarti Singh Rathore rushed to review the flash flood situation in the town.
