WaterAid's 'Healthy Start' drive from today

Published on:

The WaterAid India would launch a ‘Healthy Start’ campaign nationally in New Delhi on July 22. As part of the programme, a State campaign would also be launched here at the Hotel Marion on the same day. The campaign aims at better health for newborn children and their mothers.

The ‘Healthy Start’ is the WaterAid’s four-year global campaign (2015-2019) that aims to reduce neonatal and child morbidity and mortality by advocating for ensuring safe water, sanitation and hygiene practices into health policy and programmes in general and in health care facilities. For every 1,000 babies born in India, 28 newborns die. The Government of India has been proactive in averting these deaths through several initiatives, including the promotion of institutional deliveries through the Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojana.
