Water problem acute in Subarnapur village

Published on:

Drinking water problem is acute in Bishalpali village of Bhalpadar gram panchayat under Subarnapur district’s Birmaharajpur block now as ponds and wells have dried up due to a decrease in the groundwater level.

To add to the villagers’ woes, a drinking water supply project that was inaugurated seven months back became defunct a month after and is yet to be repaired. As many as 500 people depend on two bore-wells now.

Now, villagers are standing in queues for hours to get a bucket of water from the two tube-wells.

Villagers have demanded that the Rs 13.20 lakh water supply project, which was inaugurated by State Assembly Speaker Niranjan Pujar on July 8, 2016, be repaired at the earliest. The water-lifting motor is not working, according to villagers.
