Potable water at affordable price would soon be available at 40 locations of the State capital city. This project named Sarvajal Piramal would be implemented as per a tender process. After fulfilment of the required legal procedure, an MoU would be signed for its implementation.
As informed by BMC Executive Engineer RN Mallick, the project would take around one year for completion. There would be 40 ATMs across the city, for which four treatment plants would be installed. From each treatment plant, water would be supplied to 10 ATMs. The water carrying vehicle would carry the purified water to the ATMs.
A technical team would identify the locations of the proposed ATMs. Priority would be given to the locations where drinking water is not available and where the vehicle carrying treatment water could reach.
For facilitating the ATMs, electricity, drainage and other such basic amenities are required.
The price of water would be affordable for the users. Only operation and maintenance prices would be charged.
The cost of the project is Rs4.93 crore. The BMC hopes to serve its citizens through this project to make the city a better place to live in, said BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena.
