Waste-clogged inlets in Capital city

Published on:

Sir,

This is the fate of most inlets that divert rainwater to side drains on Bhubaneswar city roads.

The streets’ swept wastes are conveniently pushed into these channels laid under footpaths. Result: Inlets are clogged; rainwater runs down the roads and inundates low-lying areas and creates great inconveniences for people.

Would the authorities concerned attend to this perennial problem, clear the clogged inlets and, most importantly, cart the wastes immediately

lest it gets back and clogs the inlets again? It is also necessary to educate the BMC employees to perform their duties and responsibilities with honesty and sincerity.
