People of the entire Odisha have been shocked at the Deogarh accident in which 27 people were killed and 11 sustained serious injuries. Such a tragic road accident had never happened in the recent years in the State.
What has shocked all is that the bus, which had no fitness certificate, was being driven by a beginner driver on a risky Ghati road. Who is responsible for this is the question being commonly asked now while, as usual, the Transport Minister issued a direction to Barghar RTO for an inquiry.
This may not be the last bus ran on the road without having a fitness certificate. There must be hundreds of such buses plying on roads risking lives of thousands of people.
People hold officials responsible for allowing such buses and want them to be punished severely and the Government to ensure that buses are driven by expert drivers with valid licences.
