After many unsuccessful attempts, the Commissionerate Police on Thursday arrested the notorious sex racket kingpin Sunil Meher from Kolkata.
He was arrested at around 9.30 am from the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport and brought here. The Quick Action Team (QAT) of the Commissionerate Police nabbed the master pimp.
Commissioner of Police YB Khurania said, “Yesterday, we got a tipoff that Meher was coming from Ahmadabad to Kolkata in flight. So we tracked his movement. Following his arrival at the airport in Kolkata, our officers nabbed him.”
As many as nine cases were pending against inter-State sex racket kingpin of which he is wanted in three cases.
Earlier in March this year, following the busting of an international sex racket in the city the police had formed a special team to nab Meher who managed to give police a slip during raids on their hideouts several times.
Sources said police had received many vital clues about the movement of Sunil from his aide Somesh Panda who was arrested on March 23 along with a foreign girl from an apartment. Meher was the kingpin of the racket.
